Model Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance

{MSALDO}    Description:  The Model Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SLDO) * was created by the Lancaster County Planning Commission as a planning tool to help municipalities promote consistency with the county comprehensive plan and local comprehensive plans.  It is meant to strengthen municipal self reliance within their regions by helping municipalities manage and direct growth in a way that respects the environment, reduces sprawl, and builds vibrant communities.  The model SLDO is premised on the difference between developing within urban areas, rural areas, and redevelopment within the county.

Date Published: December 2008

Where to Use the Tool: Both Urban and Rural Areas

How to Use the Tool: The model Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance is intended to be considered by a municipality, adapted to implement its own Comprehensive Plan, and be adopted by the governing body.  It is a document that can be adopted by one municipality or multiple municipalities working together as a region.
